Good Bye

This year has been great year. This was my first year bloging although I was really new to it and half the time I didn't know what I was doing I really had some fun with it.
The first book that we read and studied was astronomy. I loved this subject and learned many new things from astronomy. I learned that it is the study universe's matter beyond the earth's atmosphere. I also learned that suns are actuually massive stars with a gravitational pull. I found it most interesting that scientist believe that one of jupiter's moons is capible of suporting life because they have evidence supporting that under the thick ice covering the planet there is a large body of water and that is one of the requirements to supoort life.

The next book and subject we covered was weather and climate (Earth's Atmosphere). I didn't really enloy this session as much as some of the others but it wasn't that bad. In this session I learned a lot about why weather occures and why there is diffrent types of weather. I also learned that the climate and where it is effects the weather it's going to have. I found most interesting about this section was how precipitation is formed in the troposphere section of our atmosphere.

I found that the geology part of the year was probably the most boringist subject for me. I honestly don't fing the study of rocks interesting. But dispite my lack of intrest I learned a lot from it. I never knew anything about the earth having layers and over time that the earth produces new rock. I just thought it was jus that rocks can't be created and just been there forever. I found it most interesting that there are more than one type of rock and how rocks are created and formed diffrently causeing them to be diffrent from one another.

The next subject that we did was weathering and erosion. I was amazed with what big impact wethering and erosion has on earth. They work together to break down the earth causing it to change over time. It created some of the most amazing and most beautiful things in the world like the grand canyon. I found it really cool how that over time mountains even erode away. I would never think that something that big and sturdy would ever go away even if it took a million years.

The last thing that I learned in science was about the earths waters. I knew a lot about this subject already but I would of never thought that there was so much to learn about water. I learned a lot of interesting facts like 97% of earths water is salt or undinkable water. I didn't know anything about water underground exept that wells just got water some how. I thought that all water was on land and that it all got evaporated before it can sink into the groung. Also i learned about how people get there water. The faucet isn't magic and just produces water. That water has to come from some where and it is purified and cleaned so it's safe to drink. I found it most interesting that water is neither created or destroyed and everything that has life needs it. We use the same water that the dinosours have used hundred of thousends of years ago.

Well this year was a lot of fun!!! I have learned a lot this year and this might be my last blog well at least for awhile so bye everyone!

Manitou and Co. Springs water

Manitou drinking water is different from Colorado Springs water. Manitou gets some of its drinking water from the Rocky Mountains. The water comes from snow melt and natural springs. They also get there water from Manitou reservoir. The Rocky Mountains offer Manitou some of the freshest water. Manitou also gets it's water from the ground. All this water isn't very clean so Manitou send it back. It then enters the Mesa and Crystal Hill water storage tanks ready to be used.
While for Colorado they get over 75% of there water from the continental divide. Meaning that we get some of the cleanest and most purest water like Manitou. Colorado Springs also gets there other 25% of there water from other reservoirs and damns. Colorado has over 200 miles of pipes and four major pump stations which pump water to a water cleaning facility and pumps the water throughout all of Colorado Springs.
Although Manitou and Colorado Springs get there water in diffrent ways, they both get some of there water from snow. Also there water is some of the cleanest, purest, and less used water throughout the world.

Water cycle

What is the water cycle?
The water cycle is a pattern of precipitation throughout the environment.

Does the water cycle have a begging or end?
The water cycle is a cycle with no begging or end. Because first of all we don't know what part of the water cycle came first and it is a never ending cycle.

Starting with a puddle on a sunny day, describe how water might move through the water cycle and eventually fall back as rain?

On a sunny day with a puddle the suns energy will get hotter causing the water from the puddle to warm up and turn into a gas and evaporate. When the water evaporates it picks up dust and particles creating clouds and those clouds hold as much water as it can until it can't hold anymore. When the cloud can't hold anymore water the cloud releases all of its water causing precipitation. Depending on the weather, wind, and front it will determine what kind of precipitation it is. Then that water falls back down to the earth because of gravity causing a new puddle or water masses. Then the cycle starts all over again.

Worst case senario of Conserving of Energy

Annotated Bibliography

http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/gen01/gen01673.htm
This web site was a important website for me to use. This website gave me a great deal on how important energy is and the fuels that we use can be scarce. We take these fuels for granit. Also if we keep continuing our way of life as it is the future would prob be a difficult place to live because of the lack of natural resources and the enviorment.

This website really helped me a lot. This web site is one of the two websites that i used to find out ways to conserve energy. This didn't all give me the exact information i needed but I took the good stuff out of it. It gives you twenty ways a person could consirve energy. It gave examples for ways to conserve energy for home appliances, heating and cooling, products to help conserve energy, transportation, recycle, instilation, and the community.

This was the other great web site that i used to find ways to conserve energy. This web site lists ten diffrent ways that people could conserve energy. This web site taught me some great ways to conserve energy. I wish that this web site would have gave more facts and ways that common everyday people could conserve energy. But other than that this website was a great use to me.

http://energy.opp.psu.edu/awareness-conservation/why-conserve-energy
This web site was a good website to use for easy research. This site told me basic short facts why we should conserve energy. It was a short page of facts but these facts were simple and true. It also connects to the reader because it says "why should I care i don't pay the bills." So this was one of the most straight up and tells you the facts which i liked.

Conservation of Energy

Phill's essential question-ways a town or community could conserve energy.
Energy is very important and is an essential part of life and it's something we shouldn't wast or take for granite. To really and truly conserve energy more than one person needs to participate. One person could cut down the use of energy a lot if they really tried but imagine if a whole town or city did it. I know that people need energy these days for there everyday life. But even if we cut down energy for at least an hour it will make a big difference and save a lot of energy. There is a few ways that a town or people could cut down on energy. People could participate in events like earth hour, they could cut down on unnecessary use of power. People could use less of there heat by blocking drafts. They could also resort to new energy officiant ways of power even if it means just for a little while because our planet could use a little break. As a community it may seem hard to cut down on energy use because we became so dependent on it that it has even become a problem. So i say we need to at least try to cut down on energy.
